임진우 : 감성풍경화첩

시간에 따라 시시때때로 변하는 주변의 평범하고 일상적인 풍경들을 기록한 임진우의 『감성풍경화첩』이 1월 4일부터 1월 28일까지 신촌 세브란스 병원 (본관 3층 우리라운지) 내 세브란스아트스페이스에서 열린다. 이번 전시에서는 작가이자 건축가 임진우가 평소에 눈여겨본 정감있는 장소들을 펜수채화로 그려냈으며 크게 서촌마을, 도시재생, 한양도성으로 구성하였다. 

작가는 균형이 잘 잡힌 구도감과 따뜻하고 독특한 감성으로 우리가 알아차리지 못하는 서울의 아름다움을 보여준다. 그의 수채풍경은 작은 화면 속에 실타래같이 엉켜있는 서울의 좁은 골목길들과 공동체 의식이 여전히 남아있는 도심 속의 오래된 집들, 도시와 자연이 공존하는 서울의 도성을 담고 있다.  사시사철의 풍경을 기록하는 일이 나의 행복한 일상 중에 하나라고 말하는 작가의 이번 전시를 통해 복잡했던 머릿속을 정리하고 아름다운 감성에 빠지는 시간이 되길 바란다.

In the Sensibility Scenery Sketchbook exhibition (January 4th - January 28th, 2019), a selection of Lim Jinwoo’s pen watercolor drawings will take us into different places in the capital district of Korea. The exhibition consists mostly of three main sections wherein one of the themes is the Seo-chon district; the urban renewal; and the last one, the Seoul City Wall.   

As an artist and architect, Lim is skilled at creating a balanced composition to capture a central theme of his body of work: hidden beauty within daily scenes of Seoul. Lim’s watercolor landscapes feature narrow and maze-like alleys; old houses in the Seoul city center where community spirit still exists; and the fortress wall that reconciles the concept of city and nature in harmonious coexistence. The artist stated that it is one of his most enjoyable daily routines to capture the seasonal scenery of Seoul, and we hope to offer an opportunity to help visitors to clear their minds and enjoy the beauty and sensibility of Lim Jinwoo's pen watercolor drawings.
